Mark has been recording live shows for 6 years. This has been a fun hobby and is now an intergral piece of the business. Mark has recorded in shows in all types of venues and has the knoweledge and experience to make a top notch live recording.

History

Big Mo Productions Inc. was formed as a Colorado Corporation in December of 2003. Big Mo has embraced the entrepreneurial spirit and knows what it takes to be a successful businessman. Big Mo Productions Inc seeks to build relationships and partnerships with club owners, promoters, talent buyers, graphic artists, road managers, sound technicians, publishers, radio. Mark enjoys networking and meeting new people. Mark is a true professional who is relentless at following up. Big Mo Productions can help you with management, booking, live recording, photography, and promotional material.

Big Mo

Big Mo is Mark Backus. Mark is a Denver native and has always had a love for music. Mark has eclectic musical tastes loving groups like Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy, Skinny Puppy and Front 242 to bands like Phish, String Cheese Incident, and The Yonder Mountain String Band. Mark's favorite bands include Phish, moe., String Cheese Incident, Garaj Mahal, New Monsoon, & Split Lip Rayfield. Mark made a conscious decision in 2001 to concentrate on the local bands based in Denver. Mark wanted to support the local music scene and make a library of recordings by local bands. Mark has produced countless CDs for dozens of Denver based bands

Mark made a website in 1999 to help catalog his ever increasing list of live recordings. This website has evolved into Big Mo's Jambands Page. This site, a hobby page for Mark, features reviews & pics and is now home to COJam a page dedicated to Colorado Bands.

Mark graduated from The University of Colorado with a BA in Psychology in 1993. Mark received a Masters in Social Work from the University of Denver in 1997. These studies have given Mark the people skills necessary to make it in the music industry. Mark is an excellent communicator and understands how to listen.

Mark is dedicated to the community. Big Mo Productions Inc. is a member of the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce. Mark enjoys networking and promoting his business through this organization. Mark applied and was chosen to take part in the Chamber 100 program in 2004. This program is an awesome learning experience for Denver's young business leaders. Mark participates in the MS Young Professionals Network, which helps raise awareness and money for MS. In 2001 Mark developed and implemented a fundraiser for the Rocky Mountain Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Center. Mark swam 10 miles in 7 hours and raised over $5,000 for the center's Hydro Therapy Program.
